Local companies are being invited to take up a light-hearted sporting challenge by entering a team into the first ever Shropshire Business Games.

The event is being held at Shrewsbury Sports Village on the evening of June 17, and teams of five are now being invited to enter.

It is being organised by the Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin county sports partnership Energize, and sponsored by the Shropshire Community Leisure Trust.

Laura Kerrigan, senior business manager at Energize, said: “If your workplace is looking for a fun evening of activity and a bit of friendly competition, this is the perfect opportunity.

“The games are aimed at work colleagues who don’t take themselves too seriously, and fancy a bit of It’s A Knockout-style fun – challenges include dodgeball, archery, table tennis, a mystery team challenge, and a special grand finale.

“We are looking for 10 teams. There are only two rules – they must have five people, and they cannot be all-male, or all-female. Places will be offered on a first come, first served basis.”

It costs £50 to enter a team, and the entry price includes medals, team T-shirts, and post-event refreshments. The games will begin at 6.15pm at the sports village, on Sundorne Road, on June 17.

To register a team in the inaugural Shropshire Business Games, or to find out more, contact the Energize team at or telephone 01743 297191.

Energize, based at University Centre Shrewsbury in Frankwell, believes a happy and healthy workforce is a more productive workforce.
