Environmental Sustainability

Our commitment to reducing environmental impact.

Why?

The places and spaces we use for sport and physical activity are threatened by the effects of climate change:  poor air quality, rising temperatures and extreme weather events such as floodingSadly, we also know that people who face the greatest inequality are impacted the most. It heightens the risk of ill-health, decreases wellbeing and motivation and increases barriers to participation.

What do we hope to do next?

We hope to recruit an Environmental Sustainability Champion from our Board of Trustees to help guide our work and shape a clear action plan for 2025–26.

We also want to empower our partner organisations to take action so we can increase the impact we make together.

How can we support your organisation?

Sport England's Buddle has lots of information about becoming more environmentally sustainable.

Buddle gives tips and information on everything from reducing the frequency of buying and using new kit, to removing single-use plastics, sourcing local products, installing solar panels and more. There are lots of easy and low-cost opportunities to improve your carbon footprint.
