Armed Forces Family Fund

Grants of between £5,000 and £50,000 on behalf of the MOD’s Armed Forces Families Fund Early Years Programme for projects which help enhance early childhood education and childcare settings of young people from Armed Forces families.

The A B Charitable Trust

Aims to support and strengthen small to medium sized charities. Open Programme grants are usually between £10,000 to £30,000 per year, awarded from one to three years.                                                                                                                                                   

B&Q Foundation Trust

Grants of up to £5,000 are available to UK registered charities for projects that improve community spaces for those most in need, such as those experiencing poor health, disability, or other disadvantage or distress.                                  

The Baily Thomas Charitable Fund

Eligibility for a grant includes charities and organisations who aim to aid the research into learning disability and to aid the care and relief of those affected by learning disability.

Barchester's Charitable Foundation

Grants for community groups and charities for projects that reduce isolation, promote group activities and improve mobility for older people with physical, learning, or mental disabilities.

Basil Houghton Memorial Trust

Small grants to support people with learning disabilities and their family carers, either directly or through voluntary organisations supporting people with a learning disability.

BBC Children In Need national grants

Not-for-profit organisations working with children and young people aged 18 or under can apply for grants of up to £40,000 per year for up to three years to support their core costs.              

Bernard Sunley Foundation

Grants which support capital projects such as new buildings, extensions, refurbishments, recreational spaces and more that provide a vital service to those most in need.                                                                    

Blue Spark Foundation

Schools, colleges and community groups can apply for grants to support the education and development of children and young people through educational, cultural, sporting and other projects.

Boost Charitable Trust

Small grants are available to charities and non-profit making organisations with a focus on helping disabled and disadvantaged individuals in the UK to participate in sport.                               

Bruce Wake Charitable Trust

Grants are available for the provision of sporting and leisure activities for disabled people in the UK, including improving access for wheelchair users.                                                                               

The CLA Charitable Trust grants

Charities and not-for-profit organisations can apply for grants of up to £5,000 for projects that help disabled or disadvantaged people connect with nature and the countryside. 

Community Ownership Fund

Helps voluntary and community organisations buy or renovate assets that would otherwise be lost to the community, for charitable purpose, social purpose or public benefit.

Dalian Atkinson Legacy Fund

The fund provides opportunities for all young people aged 5 to 25 across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, to have equal access to participate in football and other sports.

DHSC Community Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Fund 

Funding available for an AED in a public space. Eligible applicants include charities, local government bodies, sports clubs and other community-focused organisations.

The Esmée Fairbairn Foundation

They fund charitable work which they believe will deliver the greatest long-term impact and create change for the future. Unrestricted, core and project grants are available.   

Football Foundation Grants

To support the development of grassroots football, with current opportunities to fund:

Foyle Foundation 

Provide small community grants and give funding to the Arts, physical activities and state school libraries.

Garfield Weston Foundation

Grants up to £100,000 and major grants of £100,000 and above are available to charitable organisations working in a variety of areas including community and young people.               

Heart of England Community Foundation

The Hedley Foundation

Providing grants to smaller charities operating across the spectrum of social need including support for young people, disabled people and older adults and those with long term health conditions.

idverde Community Grants

Applications are open for projects in idverde areas, including Telford & Wrekin. Grants support ideas like community planters, garden seeds, play equipment, and funding for promotion and education.

Tennis for disability groups

Community groups can receive £250 to fund 5 x 1 hr sessions in the Cathie Sabin Tennis Centre, Shrewsbury. These daytime sessions would be at a time to suit, coach led and ability tailored.

Ironmongers' Company

Providing opportunities for disadvantaged young people to fulfil their potential. Projects could, for example, support special educational needs, or foster social, emotional or life skills.

Joanies Fund

LTA Facility Loan Scheme

Loans between £25,000 and £250,000 are available to help LTA-registered venues deliver projects that enhance community facilities and enable  accessible play all year round.

Marches Energy Trust

Free advice, energy assessments and grants for efficiency and renewable energy measures to SMEs in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin. The funding also support community buildings.

Co-op Doing Good Together

Provides small grants to community causes in need of support. From dinner and dance for dementia to plants for parks, or biscuits for book club to kits for cricket teams and more.

Morrisons Foundation

Supports charities delivering projects to improve people’s lives in communities, by tackling poverty & social deprivation; enhancing community spaces, facilities & services; or improving health & wellbeing.                                   

Movement For Good Awards

Offers £1,000 to 150 charities, non-profits, or community interest companies. Public nominations are accepted online, with winners selected at random.                                                                                                                                               

National Lottery Awards for All

Grants of £300 to £10,000 to support community-focused projects that bring people together, improve health and wellbeing, or tackle local challenges. 

National Lottery Reaching Communities Fund

Grants over £10,000 aimed at voluntary and community organisations, charities, social enterprises, and partnerships, to support improving lives, address local challenges, and create positive change.

National Lottery UK Fund

Supports projects that address key challenges and drive systemic change across disadvantaged communities. It offers flexible grants for project costs, research, and partnerships.

A monthly bulletin facilitated by the Rural Services Network to share a selection of current funding opportunities. Sign up to stay updated. 

Severn Trent Community Fund

Our fund supports projects that enhance community wellbeing by promoting healthier lifestyles, improving community spaces, and caring for the environment, including rivers and water.

Sport England Movement Fund

Supports projects to increase physical activity, especially for low-income individuals, disabled people, older adults, culturally diverse communities, young girls, and unpaid caregivers.

Community Energy Twemlows Fund

Supports community projects in Shropshire. Eligibility includes voluntary organisations focused on: fuel poverty, community participation, conservation, environmental education. 

Telford & Wrekin Sports and Recreation Trust

Grants of £600-£2000 are available to support community-based physical activity projects to help get residents active, connect and improve their health and wellbeing. 

Tesco Stronger Starts

Provides charities, community organisations, schools and local good causes with grants of up to £1,500. The funding aims to make a positive difference to local communities with priority given to causes that help young people.

The Hargreaves Foundation

Their objectives are to give those under the age of 18, and living with a mental health problem, physical disability, or growing up in poverty, the opportunity to fulfil their potential, improving wellbeing, self-esteem and independence.

The Shackleton Foundation

Providing up to £10,000 of seed funding and support to enable aspiring leaders and social entrepreneurs to establish their own ventures to help young people overcome challenging circumstances.

Trusthouse Charitable Foundation

Giving grants to small and medium sized local organisations in the UK working to address local issues in communities of extreme urban deprivation and deprived rural districts.

Twincl Community Lottery

Earn money for your group by selling 20 tickets weekly. Most active groups earn an average of £845 annually. It’s free to join, promote £1 tickets and players can sign up via direct debit or upfront, with chance to win up to £25,000.            

Veolia EnviroGrant Shropshire

Up to £15,000 for projects that benefit the environment and community. Open to local groups and charities, it supports initiatives promoting sustainability, enhancing public spaces, and improving community wellbeing.

Veterans' Foundation 

The fund can cover a wide range of aspects of social care including (but not limited to) reducing homelessness, increasing employment, reducing poverty and promoting positive mental health.                                                                             

Woodward Charitable Trust

Grants for core costs rather than specific projects as smaller charities can find these hard to fund. Looking to fund projects that help families and young people and aim to improve their life chances.
