Assistive toolbar for website users

2-MINUTE READ

Background

The internet can be an incredibly intimidating place for those with access barriers, and those lacking the tools they need to adequately understand or communicate are at a significant disadvantage.

Our website now provides an inclusive online experience to enable website visitors to access online content barrier-free.

Why has Energize provided this?

As part of our Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan, website visitors are now able to access a wide range of accessibility and language support tools to customise their digital experience through Recite Me assistive technology.

Being able to offer an inclusive experience is essential to support over 25% of the population who may encounter barriers when exploring our website due to having a disability, learning difficulty, visual impairment, or if they speak English as a second language.

Accessibility and inclusion is extremely important to us at Energize. We are committed to ensuring everyone can access information and services in a way that best meets their individual needs.

What does it do?

The assistive toolbar includes screen reading functionality, multiple reading aids, customisable styling options, an on-demand live translation feature that boasts over 100 languages including 65 text-to-speech and styling options and much more...

Just press on the grey person icon on our website to open the toolbar.

Next Steps

Your experience on our website matters to us. We’re here to ensure our resources are accessible to you.

If you notice any issues or have suggestions to enhance our services, please email us at info@energizestw.org.uk.

And, in September 2025, we will have a survey to capture people's experiences of working with and receiving communications from Energize, to help inform our work.
