2-MINUTE READ
Background
Energize STW was thrilled to participate in the Oswestry Sports Forum’s “Growing Sports Clubs Through Increased Volunteering and Funding” workshop on Monday 11th November at Oswestry Rugby Club. The event drew an impressive crowd of over 40 participants, representing 27 local sports clubs from across Oswestry and North Shropshire.
How Energize Got Involved
The event brought together representatives from a wide range of local sports clubs and physical activity providers, all eager to explore strategies for growth and sustainability. The lively discussions highlighted the importance of fostering community support and investing in our young people, enhancing volunteer engagement, and accessing funding opportunities to strengthen grassroots sport and physical activity provision across Oswestry and North Shropshire.
“It was fantastic to see such a strong turnout and such diversity in the clubs represented,” Amy Griffiths, Empowering Communities Manager at Energize Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin said. “Workshops like these are vital for building connections, sharing ideas, and ensuring the long-term success of community sport and physical activity provision.”
What Happened
Clive Knight, event organiser and Oswestry Sports Forum committee member said, “to have this level of response from our local and diverse sports clubs was so encouraging, and to help and listen to their desire to grow their clubs for members and the local community through additional volunteers and funding”.
Key speakers for the evening were:-
